A Dime is a Sign is a Masterpiece of Emotional Catharsis.

Touched my heart in a way I didn't expect. I found myself reliving moments that had been buried deep in the sands of time. And that's what good poetry does. It lingers, makes you stop, and remember - the hills, the valleys, the ebbs, the flows, the good, and the bad. A Dime is a Sign allowed me to open up my feelings to myself.

I think sometimes I'm afraid to feel. Or I'm afraid to think about difficult subjects - love, loss, failure, disappointment, broken friendships, the "what could have been's " - and yet, how can we appreciate God's goodness if we don't remember the hard places we've endured, those unfortunate turns that sent us screaming, crying, shouting, or pouting?

I remember one poem brought to mind some roses that I admired many years ago that were part of a rose competition. I never knew there could be so many different varieties, so many different colors, and so many spectacular blends. How could the judges choose just one winner?

I think Dime is a Sign resurrected that memory because God has been telling me for a while - stop and see the beauty in the land of the living. Feel more, taste more, dream more,  embrace life more -  in all its fullness and nuances. Don't be afraid to feel love, sadness, dejection, or anger. It's in feeling that God restores our soul and gives us more of Himself.

In this fast-paced world in which we live, perhaps it's just too easy to forget the beautiful sounds and rhythm of well-written poetry. We need to remember the beauty of words stunningly put together draw a portrait of our humanness. It's our frailties, passions, hopes, and despairs that give us commonality with the world and with each other. I needed to be reminded of many things that had been put away in a crowded box of the forgotten. In feeling deeply, I know I'm still alive.

I thank Sherrill S. Cannon for taking me down a road less traveled (at least for me) and helping me to be more than I was before. Helping me to slow down and risk living at a slower pace

I'm good at building invisible walls so I stay in the middle of the road on which I travel. At least today, I ventured out along the edges where I stopped and picked up stones that were beautiful and redemptive. Beautiful poetry has a strange way of doing that.

A Dime is a Sign is vulnerable, introspective, and a masterpiece of emotional catharsis. Enjoy the read to the fullest.

Excerpt of "Poetry from God" by Joseph F. Harlin

Lord you see and know my heart
Willing to be your perfect vessel
But every time I try to do right
My mind begins to wrestle.

I'm blinded by my weaknesses
In sin I'm entangled
I can't breathe in your presence
Because my spirit has been strangled

It's hard to see any hope from the way my life is angled
My knees shake in weakness
My spirit is just not steady
So while I try to get things right
Lord cover me till I'm ready

By your loving kindness
I am always drawn
Can you fill me again
Though my strength is gone
I think about my purpose
From dusk till dawn

My knees shake in weakness
my spirit is just not steady
while I try to get things right
Lord cover me till Im ready.

My hands are shaking
My soul is aching
My life seems to keep crumbling
My feet are always stumbling

But it's a process I just can't rush
So I'll tell my doubting lips to hush
One day, Satan's head I will crush
But until then, until my spirit is steady
Lord hold on to my hand
And cover me till I'm ready

Triumphant: Created For Victory Destined For Glory, by Marnie Baker

Triumphant: Created For Victory, Destined For Glory

How wonderful it is to have a Living, Loving God who profoundly cares for you, and for me. Therefore, because He Is LOVE, and because He Is Care, there is a Hope that is Real, True, and Able which is there for us. With God, we can walk through any situation with a hope that is real and everlasting because He is alive, well, and sitting Forevermore  upon His Mighty Throne.

But God…

Despair like butterfly wings
continuously beats at my heart.

How do I keep the walls from
crumbling down all around me?

Do you see me my Lord; My God, My King?
I stand here struggling trying my best
to hold up four crumbling walls
with only two small hands.

I’m hopeless. I’m helpless.
I’m desolate. I’m pained.
I’m alone.

But God…
Means that Hope Lives.

But God…
Means that Help arrives.

But God…
Means that Love, on Comforting Wings,
comes for me-comes to see me through.
But God…
Means that an intentional Love
surrounds me-is here for me.

With Jesus by my side,
how magnificent, beautiful,
and sustaining is the phrase But God.

And for that reason
My Help is the Word;
The Word which is God.

God is my Hope. God is my Light.
God is my Strength. God is my Shelter.
God is my Love, and He is always at my side.

So, I will rest in Him because
He is my Strong Tower.
I will place my hope in Him because
He is my Source, my Strength.
I will put my faith in Him because
He is Worthy and True.
I will forever Love Him because
He is my Everything.

My situation does not make Him less God
because He is there for me- Strong and Mighty.
Therefore, I am able to lie in
His Comforting Arms and rest when I need to.

Yes, I may walk through the valley of death,
yet, I will not fear the terrors
because He Lives, and He is with me.

Therefore, what was meant to harm me
must now bow down before Him
to be turned around for my good.
Thank You Lord that there is a But God
for my story, for my soul,
and for my life.
