About the Book:
What happens when truth is perverted to suit the circumstances? Christine Smith, owner of Finders Keepers Investigative Services, and Jeremy Goodman, owner of Goodman Investigations, discover the answer when they decide to help a woman recover her children from a Mennonite village in Mexico. Drug running and human trafficking are justified by Elders who place money and control above the people they are supposed to lead. Christine's new faith explores the contradictions in the search for Redemptive Justice.

Lisa's Review:
I like Derksen's passion for her series dealing with the fallen side of humanity. The subjects are not easy ones to deal with, and Derksen does a great job of showing that the best way anyone can see through the depths of evil is with the eyes of Christ. This story I had to try a little harder with as I'm currently involved with a fantastic group of Mennonites who are working on various aspects of our new home. I just can't think of them acting like this, but I know it happens in every culture. I mentally substituted a cult while I read.

I admire Derksen's characters, Christine and Jeremy. Their diligence to seek the truth and find causes to aid in their separate investigation agencies is inspiring. Readers with their hearts on their sleeves for causes to fight for will enjoy this suspenseful tale of rescuing the helpless. Told through multiple viewpoints and distracting constant internal monologue--that's truly my only beef. The description and dialog are great and tell the story just fine.

Amazon Book Review of "Wicked Disregard" by Barbara Ann Derksen, Book 3 in the Finder's Keepers Mystery

Wicked Disregard, written by Barbara Ann Derksen, is book 3 in the Finder's Keepers Mystery.

Christine's parents were murdered at the age of 5. At that time she went to live with her aunt and uncle in Texas and her name was changed. She is now back in Winnipeg, working as an investigator specializing in finding missing children, along with her service dog Chief.

In this story she goes back to her father's company and meets the people in charge and has to make the decision if she will take over the company. She also is having her parents home remodeled to move “back home”.

She rents office space from Jeremy Goodman, whom her uncle hired to watch out for her and the son of her attorney. Someone has put a hit on Christine and she gets shot and hospitalized.

As this is happening it is revealed that the case she is working on, and the one Jeremy is working on, are connected. Together they work on the case to find out who wants her dead and who is running the child prostitution ring.

Jeremy and his father are very important people in her life and have strong Christian faith. While in the hospital, Jeremy helps Christine accept the Lord and he offers to help her with her Christian walk.

I really like this book. I wish I had known it was the third in the series when I decided to read it. But the author does a good job of filling in so it was a good stand alone book as well.

There is a lot of suspense throughout the entire story. The topic of child pornography is not a pleasant one. But the book does not go into deep detail and with all the other things taking place in the story it is easy to get wrapped up in it. I found it hard to put the book down it was so good!

I like that it is a Christian story. However, it is done in such a way it would not offend anyone.

Wakulla Book Review: The Essence of Evil by Barbara Ann Derksen

This is the second book of the Finders Keepers Series. It picks up where the first book ended and continues the adventures of Christine and Jeremy.

Ms. Derksen does a great job of bringing together many seemingly unrelated events. The plat twists and turns like a Nascar race course, leaving the reader guessing at every corner.

Barbara Ann is a master at integrating the characters faith in Jesus into the everyday matters. It is refreshing and the characters are so life like, it’s amazing.

There are some tough issues dealt with also – child abduction, pedophilia, sex trafficking, physical and mental abuse, and even cancer. Barbara Ann keeps it real, shows compassion, erupts in rage at atrocities, and shares the love of Jesus. Truly an incredible writer and a great book.

I’m waiting for the next book and will recommend her books to anyone that likes a great book!! Five Stars!!

Wakulla Book Review: Shadow Stalker by Barbara Derksen

This was a really WOW! book. I normally do not read murder mysteries but I was given this book to read and write a review on it. As I have already said, “WOW!” This book kept me so into it and the figures within the book were downright riveting.

I could not read the darn thing fast enough. The religious parts of the book were handled in an excellent manner also. It gave me a good attitude about Jesus and I felt that was a major factor in the book.

A very good written book. I am still not a murder mystery book lover but I am a Barbara Ann Derksen book reader. I do have the second book of the Finders Keepers series and will probably read the second book as fast as the first one.

Lord have mercy. This was an excellent book to read. We can only hope for the future in our regular lives.

Wakulla Book Review: Two-Up, Riding With the Lord, by Barbara A. Derksen

Here is a small book filled with a host of short stories of agonizing hard points to ponder and overcome. In the majority of the stories that Ms. Derksen writes about, most generally compensate and get with the program.

Ms. Derksen writes about real people in an engaging way, and she writes about some that could possibly not make their way to heaven. Sad but true.

With each person of the 62 addressed and touched on within this book, I believe they are healed and protected by God. This book brought out a few real life excursions, a few of my own bad choices, but also a few of the good things I have done in my life—along with a few tears given out for the good times plus a few given out for the dumb things that I have done.

Yes, I have done a few really dumb things, but God has also forgiven me for them. Come, Lord Jesus, Come!
