Wakulla Book Review: Two-Up, Riding With the Lord, by Barbara A. Derksen

Here is a small book filled with a host of short stories of agonizing hard points to ponder and overcome. In the majority of the stories that Ms. Derksen writes about, most generally compensate and get with the program.

Ms. Derksen writes about real people in an engaging way, and she writes about some that could possibly not make their way to heaven. Sad but true.

With each person of the 62 addressed and touched on within this book, I believe they are healed and protected by God. This book brought out a few real life excursions, a few of my own bad choices, but also a few of the good things I have done in my life—along with a few tears given out for the good times plus a few given out for the dumb things that I have done.

Yes, I have done a few really dumb things, but God has also forgiven me for them. Come, Lord Jesus, Come!

My review:

Crating 30 different species of God’s creatures out of pipe cleaners, clothespins, googly eyes, paper plates and paint was never so much fun. Recommended to go along with the Vacation Bible School or even Sunday school Curriculum, Adam’s Animals, Kimberley Payne and Kristen Sheppard-Payne offer a fun-filled book of clear directions and pictures of easy to create animals, from Bizarre Bat to Fancy Fish using an old CD, to Handsome Horse and Wild Wolf built around a child’s footprint, a few simple supplies turns into an afternoon of fun at home or the babysitter or grandma’s house.

Wakulla Book Review: Straight Pipes, by Barbara Ann Derksen

Whether you’re just an affiliated club member, patch wearer, or you just ride for fun, you’ll soon be blowing your pipes for Jesus. This devotion takes the hard learned principles of the Holy Bible and not only makes them practical but applicable as well. The vernacular of a little known society is used fluidly and in a way that is easily related to by the biker.

The book teaches evangelism techniques to a people who are seldonly understood and are more or less tolerated, as well as gives perfect examples of how to follow through.

I loved it. I was reminded of the society I was once associated with and the feel of this devotional can easily give you a picture of Jesus on a motorcycle headed across the country spreading His Good News. –  Jaxon, inmate, Wakulla Correctional Institution, FLA

Review:
This short and easy to read collection of personal affirmations gives the reader some excellent suggestions with which to affirm their child or really any loved one in their lives whom they wish to encourage. So many of us are raised in an atmosphere of negativity, sometimes with the best of intentions as was suggested by the author, but leaving us drained of the vitality of life necessary to succeed. This little book will teach the reader how to pick out the good in people and become a true encourager!

Review:

Finally- A Simple Guide that Makes Sense!

This small, but power-packed book is a must-read for anyone who has a budding business idea, but has never tried to start a business, or has tried and failed. It truly is a step by step guide that takes the confusion out of the process. This book also contains a wealth of resources that will be invaluable in what can otherwise be a difficult process. Even though the author has a Master’s degree, the materials in this book are so simplistic in their presentation that the reader does not need a business degree to comprehend it. I highly recommend this book for anyone who may be planning to start their own business.

Wakulla Book Review: Seventh Dimension - The Door, Book One, A Young Adult Fantasy, by Lorilyn Roberts

SEVENTH DIMENSION - THE DOOR, A YOUNG ADULT FANTASY

The Door is an excellent book. The story began well with the young girl getting into trouble. But I stopped when the talking animals entered the scene. This is not the kind of story I like to read. I let the book sit for two days before I gave it another try. I picked up where I left off and quickly remembered why I had set it down. But suddenly, the story changed and became alive.

I became enthralled with the story and the characters. The people and the animals had such depth to their personalities that I was truly amazed. But being able to see Jesus through their eyes was what really hit home with me. How easily the animals recognized Jesus as the king, and how difficult it is for the people who see him as king was precious and eye-opening.

Very thought provoking and very entertaining at the same time. If you are a fan of fantasy books or not, I recommend this one. One of the best books I've read that could open the Gospel of Jesus to those who might not listen otherwise. I look forward to the next book.

Wakulla Book Review: "The Right Person, Montgomery Lake High School, Book 1," by Stacy A. Padula

"The Right Person" is a story about a high school freshman named Chris Dunkin, who, along with most of his friends, has been pulled into the party life where drugs, alcohol, and popularity seem to be all that matters, until he meets a girl who seems to be different. He feels drawn to her, but doesn't figure out what drew him to her until their lives take a reverse role. That it was the life of Christ in her that was drawing Chris.

To everyone's amazement, Chris, the class partier, turns his life over to Jesus Christ and everyone witnesses a dramatic change in him.

The author's purpose is to clearly show the awesome and amazing power God will have in transforming the life of anyone who repents and turns his life over to him. Regardless of one's past.

The book covers many themes dealing with teen peer pressures of drugs, alcohol, popularity, friendship, and even depression.

I loved the Biblical teachings where a teen can understand them in today's examples.
