A soon-to-be-released mystery set in the Florida backwoods
targets 9 to 14 year olds with the message of Christian salvation. The book, Lost in the Woods: A Bible Camp Mystery,
is the tale of a 13-year-old camper, Zack, who mysteriously disappears in the middle of the night.
Zack encounters a huge spider web, baby alligator and the
early bands of an oncoming hurricane in the story about an ill-fated church
retreat. Meanwhile the other campers encounter some challenges of their own after
devouring some raw hot dogs.
Penned by Cheryl Rogers, publisher of the New Christian Books Online Magazine, Lost in the Woods is a story about seeking God and believing
– even when things look dim.
“It is my hope that readers will be encouraged to seek Jesus
as their Savior, from their problems large and small, for now and for
eternity,” Rogers says.
Rogers came to know the Lord as an adult through a
devastating illness. So it has been her goal to encourage others to seek God
early and learn from him.
“I know firsthand the pain that comes from not having God in
your life,” Rogers says. “I have made it my goal to share what I wish I would
have known with others.”
Rogers grew up reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy Mysteries in
her native Florida, where she has enjoyed camping as a child and as an adult.
She has pitched her tent along backwoods trails reserved for primitive campers
only, where there was no electricity or bathhouses.
The mother of two, Rogers also has volunteered at church and
school, helping to supervise preteens and teens on field trips and other
gatherings.
Lost in the Woods
