Barbara Ann Derksen
Barbara’s devotionals are sought after each year when she
publishes a new one that reflects what God has placed on her heart. From Straight Pipes, her first, to Road Trip, the latest, Barbara’s
devotions take people to the place where God can touch their heart and leave a
lasting impression.
Born in Canada, Barbara lived in the US for 12 years. There
her writing surfaced as she worked as a journalist for six years with over 2500
articles published in newspapers and magazines during that time. Her readership
expanded while in the States but now the Canadian public has discovered the
gift that God has given yet another Canadian.
Barbara has spoken across the US and in Manitoba, Canada for
women’s groups and in church services on topics such as The Writing Experience,
working in the ministry of Christian Motorcyclists Association, Love,
Parenting, Time Management, and a host of others.
With 14 books to her credit, one currently inactive and
awaiting revision, each one surpasses the last, according to her readers. They look forward to discovering the new characters in a new series Finders Keepers which she plans to begin in 2012.
Developing a social media presence,
getting published at Amazon.com and adding her books to their kindle collection
in Canada, the US, Great Britain, France and Germany, and also adding her books
to Amazon.ca has kept her busy this year. She has also attended a few workshops
to add to her skill level. Barbara Ann would love to meet you, whenever she is
in your area. Check her schedule to find out when she will stop by.

Vanished - Vanished! That’s what Andrea Wilton and Brian Strait discover
when they come to visit their best friends one evening. Where could they be and
does God answer prayers, two questions they find the answers to as they journey
to another world of voodoo, murder, and more missing people. Andrea and Brian
also discover each other as they learn to scuba, fight a common enemy, and
search for the proverbial needle in a haystack.
Presumed Dead - Andrea Wilton and Brian Strait, from Shuster Detective Agency, take on another case to find a missing
person. This second book in the series introduces DJ Wiebe, a biker who rides
with The Sons Riders, a Christian biker ministry. Another biker, a member of
The Demons Raiders, is missing and presumed dead. DJ, his friend, hires Shuster Detective Agency to find him. He
initiates Andrea and Brian into the biker culture, a world that encompasses
motorcycles, leather, drugs and murder.
Fear Not - Brian Strait and Andrea Wilton discover that relationship and
intrigue go together
when they embark on their third
adventure, back to the Caribbean. A visit cut short, the two sleuths uncover a
plot that challenges their faith when they search to clear a friend of murder.
Their hunt for truth brings them head to head with the black market, human
contraband, and culprits who will stop at nothing to line their pockets.
Silence - After disembarking from their last adventure aboard a cruise
ship, Andrea Wilton and Brian Strait thought they were on their way to get
married in Santo Domingo. When Andrea is
abducted by sex traffickers, Brian goes on the hunt of a lifetime to
disentangle her from some very bad people. Set in Miami, he uncovers a plot
that includes missing women, drugs, and dirty cops.
Straight Pipes
- This devotional is
designed to encourage bikers in their Christian walk and, at the same time,
provide them with a tool to disciple others. Within its pages discover the
importance of spending time with God daily, studying His word, sharing your
faith, and then discipling others.
Two-Up
- In Two
Up, Riding With The Lord, Barbara Ann Derksen creatively illustrates the
importance of what it means to be God’s adopted child… Accepted, Secure, Significant, and Free… through faith in God’s one and only Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. You will discover the privileges of being a child of God, your strength
as a believer, and the power given to you by God’s Holy Spirit as you spent
time in His Word through these daily readings.
Chrome - Deepen your understanding of propitiation, justification,
righteousness, and sanctification as you read the devotions in Chrome, Shining
Faith. Listen to God’s still, small voice and walk closely to your Heavenly
Father on a daily basis
Chaps - The Bible, in Ephesians, says to put on the
full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. This book is designed to help you do just that and in so doing
understand how God uses His armor to protect, strengthen and shield us so we
can minister to the people he places in our paths.
Road Trip - The book of Matthew, Chapter five, begins the greatest sermon
ever preached. In this chapter and all the way to the end of chapter seven, God
gives us clear direction on how we are to live our lives as Christians. He
covers a host of topics leaving no doubt that He loves us and wants only the
best for us. Road Trip is an easy to read study of those principles to
encourage you in your daily walk.
Your unique
talent
I’m
not sure I have anything unique to offer but I often trust too easily, talk too
much, am too opinionated, and have an overactive imagination. I guess these are
all qualities that make me a good writer but more importantly I’ve learned to
be obedient to what God has called me to do.
Are you a “pet
person” or prefer no pets?
I
am a dog person, through and through. Currently without, I would love to have
another little critter to come home to. For the time being, my husband will
have to do.
Would you rather
travel or stay at home?
I
love both. Our current lifestyle works just fine as we are on the road for
Christian Motorcyclists for five months every summer and then home for the
other seven.
Would, or do,
ride a motorcycle or prefer to ride/drive a car?
Riding
a motorcycle fills my excitement quotient. Enjoying God’s beauty with no roof
over my head, smelling the flowers, trees, and lakes without hindrance are all
part of what makes this lifestyle so much fun. Leaving the more unpleasant
odours behind quicker, works too.
Would you
describe yourself as happy or joyful?
I
prefer to use the word content, rather than happy. Happiness is fleeting but
contentment has a lasting quality to it. To me, happiness depends on
circumstances but contentment depends on the Lord.
Listen to music
or prefer quiet?
I
love to listen to all kinds of music and usually have some on when I write or
when I’m enjoying a good book.
Prefer sunrises
or sunsets?
I
love both but,
since I’m not a morning person, I usually miss the sun rise.
