Book Review by Lorilyn Roberts of Book Three in the Montgomery Lake High Series, The Aftermath, by Stacy A. Padula

The Aftermath, Book 3 in the Montgomery Lake High Series, continues with the same cast of characters and delves deeper into the lives of the protagonists, including the good and the bad that ranges from hope to despair.

I've developed a sense of who these teens are as people and how God is working in their lives in a deep and personal way - when the coming-of-age young adults are willing.

Montgomery Lake High Series is realistic and meaningful and something that all teens who are searching for truth and meaning in today's chaotic world would greatly enjoy. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Teens in High School in a Coming-of-Age Novel - When Darkness Tries to Hide, Book 2 in Montgomery Lake High Series

Book Review by Lorilyn Roberts

When Darkness Tries to Hide is the second book in the Montgomery Lake High Series and continues with a new story but the same kids from Montgomery High. The struggles of the Young Adults are authentic and reflect many of the issues that teens face today –  bullying, drugs, sex, self-worth, and making good choices.

I particularly liked how the author instills hope throughout the book and shows the reader how Jesus Christ truly can make all the difference. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Book Review of "The Right Person" in the Montgomery Lake High Series by Stacy A. Padula

Book Review by Lorilyn Roberts

The Right Person, Book 1 in the Montgomery Lake High Series by Stacy Padula, is a great read for teens and especially teens that struggle with self-worth. The Right Person introduces several young ladies and young men who are freshmen in high school, and they are caught in the crosshairs of coming-of-age and figuring out who they are in relationship to each other and to God as Christians—at least those who attend a church youth group.

If you are a young person and you are struggling to integrate your faith with friends, both male and female, this is the book for you. You will easily relate to the characters in the Montgomery Lake High Series.

Although I am way past my teenage years, I enjoyed reminiscing about those days long ago, and I would have enjoyed reading this as a young adult. I would have learned some things early on rather than the hard way later, and it would have reassured me that many of my insecurities were natural and common, especially when it came to dating.

Author Stacy Padula does a great job understanding the difficulties that teenagers face, and I particularly liked the upbeat ending of The Right Person. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Montgomery Lake High Series.

Wakulla Book Review - When Darkness Tries to Hide, by Stacy A. Padula

Title: When Darkness Tries to Hide.
Author: Stacy A. Padula

This is a book about hope. Hope in the most serious and desperate of circumstances. Hope for healing and hope for deliverance. Hope that is only found in Jesus Christ.

This tale of high school students facing drug/alcohol addiction, peer pressure, the desire for acceptance, and unexpected tragedy hits the mark. Stacy Padula accurately portrays the battles young adults (and even older adults) go through daily. She identifies that “in the” feeling that many try to fill with alcohol, drugs, sex, and other things, and shows the reader the one thing that can fill the void—a relationship with God through Jesus.

Stacy Padula masterfully shares the Gospel of Christ in the pages of this book in a way that really helps the reader to understand. Through the characters of the story, hope, joy, peace and love are evident. But Ms. Padula does not shy away from the struggles that also are a part of the Christian life.

I will recommend her books to teens and adults alike. Well done, Stacy! God is going to use these books mightily.

WAKULLA BOOK REVIEW

I want to personally thank all the men who are reviewing the books written by JOHN 3:16 AUTHORS. I am thankful that we are able to bless them and appreciate the encouragement given to us by their reviews.

Their insights, comments, and encouragement mean a lot. Steve said I (Lorilyn Roberts) could visit the prison and I hope to do that sometime in the near future. I ultimately look forward to the day when we are all free in the Lord's presence to worship together our Risen King!

Each WEEK (usually on Tuesday), we are posting reviews from Wakulla Correctional inmates of John 3:16 books.

Inmates are loving the new books from John 3:16 authors. Chaplain Steve Fox  is adding the new books to the prison library in this initiative to "change lives to ensure a safer Florida."
